6 June marks the end of my aunt's life on Earth while creating a new beginning for her in heaven. I delicate this post to celebrate & remember my aunt's faith, strength and compassion.
My aunt had a first class honours in engineering. She had accomplished a lot in school and in her career. Her favourite sports is golf and she's really good at it. She's a single woman and a strong believer of Christ.
When young, she brought me and sibling to play golf and tennis. She also gave us golf and tennis balls as sovenirs.. Sometimes, she will come over to my house to sleep while taking care of me & my sibling when my mum's not around. Moreover, she's very generous in giving us things, and not just to my family, but to all her siblings' families. And her compassion showed on even animals too as she used to feed the stranded cats around the void decks..
12 years ago, my grandfather fell ill with stroke. All of the relatives became busy taking turns to take care of grandpa. However each of the relatives still had our own families so my aunt took the burden upon herself and spent more time than any of the families did to look after grandpa. To her, grandpa was like part of her whom she loves so dearly.. But despite not having a family, she still has to work and over the years, she never had much of a rest too.. Her filial piety was boundeless, even her friends said if it was them, they may not have been able to do or sacrifice as much as what aunt had... Just went 11 years was over and she can start having a proper life, but she was diagnosed with the terminal illness esp. one that is very much deadly -pancreatic cancer. Her pain was what none of us can imagine or comprehend. Yet, she fought strongly and kept her faith in God, seeking healing even in US. Even the doctors said her case was a miracle as she had outlived what was the expected period of life left. However, God is often too difficult for us human to understand. God had his plans and decided that aunt's time was up. So she is now in his hands, safe and comfortable, with neither pain nor sufferings.
To our dear aunt, we will always remember your love and courage, your unwavering faith and filial piety. Rest now peacefully in safe hands and forget all sorrows or woes. Bless us with your love and strength and may the angels be with you.
I would like to roughly relate to what my eldest cousin had said in his inspiring speech: Life is precious. Cherish people who love you, those who treat you right for life is too short to hold on to regrets or woes. Look at your love ones faces, ask yourself what you see in them and what you love about them & cherish them sincerely. Think about what you've done for them and realise how little we have done and how much more we could do... Look at the faces of those who have hurt you and appreciate that they taught you how to treasure true friends. Learn to let go of past grievances and practice forgiveness to free your heart of all sorrows.
How can we make a difference in the world if we don't even start by making a difference for our love ones? It only takes a little more time and effort to do a little more extra things for them.
"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said that it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it."
P.S. thank you family & friends for all the concern and support during this period. Each departure brings stronger unity.
